Belly Check
Baby is at 18 weeks today. This week, we're having an ultrasound, and I'm hopeful we'll be able to tell if we're having a boy or girl. This is a fun point in my pregnancy. I feel great, and everywhere I go people tell me they're delighted I'm having a baby. Lots of hugs, lots of advice. One person already surprised me by patting my belly.

Note the scattered leaves all over the backyard. No gardening progress has been made since my last post. Today, I did discover a few of my pea plants are still thriving. I picked two small pea pods, and they tasted just like spring. A nice treat here in November.

See that stylin' scarf I'm sporting in the photo? That's my latest hand-knit project. Knitting has slowed down lately. I'm feeling more wrist pain these days. My midwife says that increased wrist pain in common during pregnancy. So my knitting is reduced to a snails pace. I dig the scarf, I must say. I made it by casting on the length of the scarf (about 150 stitches) onto my longest circular knitting needles. I knit the entire scarf in garter stitch, switching between black yarn and a variegated yarn at random. This is an easy way to make vertical stripes on a scarf--too easy.

Of course, I've got a whole pile of baby patterns I want to start knitting, but we'll see how much I'm able to get done during the next five months.
